HAEMOSTASIS RESEARCH GROUP - DEPARTMENT OF HAEMATOLOGY – TRINITY COLLEGE DUBLIN, IRELAND

PhD Studentship

Applications are invited for a PhD studentship in the Haemostasis Research Group, Department of Haematology, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. (http://www.tcd.ie/IMM/Haemostasis.php). This studentship presents an exciting opportunity to study the molecular interplay between haemostatic and inflammatory pathways and develop therapeutic agents for thrombotic and inflammatory diseases. This project will build upon recent work performed in our laboratory (Harmon et al. J. Biol. Chem. 2008 Nov 7;283(45):30531-9; Preston et al. J Biol. Chem. 2009 Feb 27;284(9):5869-75.). The successful applicant will utilise a wide range of well-established molecular and cell biology techniques during the course of this project. Specific assays to assess enzyme functions and protein-protein interactions will also be performed. Applicants should possess at least an upper second-class honours life science degree. Prior laboratory experience in molecular or cell biology is desirable but not essential. Studentships are expected to commence in October 2009. The stipend is €17,000 per annum and includes full registration fees for EU students. Registration is for two years (MPhil) in the first instance, with funding for a third year (PhD) subject to satisfactory progress.
